In Pieces, In Public: Making Zines from the CityZine-Making Workshop by Ira Shukla

The city is made of fragments—colours, textures, conversations, public art, and fleeting everyday moments. This guided zine-making workshop invites participants to observe, collect, and reinterpret these fragments into a personal visual narrative.Using collage, drawing, and text, participants will create their own handmade zine inspired by the Lodhi Art District and their experiences of Delhi. The session encourages reflection on how we experience public space and how the city becomes a shared, evolving canvas shaped by memory, movement, and imagination.Open to beginners and enthusiasts alike, the workshop offers a space to slow down, notice the details around you, and translate them into intimate, expressive printed forms.

About the Artist:

Ira Shukla is a brand designer and illustrator whose practice explores storytelling through visual systems, illustration, and narrative design. A graduate of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (2023), she was recognised with the Meritorious Student Award and named India’s Best Design Student by Indi Design.Curious and experimental by nature, Ira believes design is not just about aesthetics but about connection and meaning. Her work draws from observation, everyday experiences, and visual culture, creating thoughtful and engaging narratives that invite people to see familiar spaces in new ways.
